AmpliTube Custom Shop is a program that allows you to build a huge collection of guitar effects and amp simulators piece by piece at affordable costs. It includes some of the top brands like Carvin, Orange, and Mesa Boogie. The only brand I miss is Marshall, which is a true classic. On the effect pedals side, there are plenty of models divided into categories, such as delay, fuzz, distortion, equalizers, and more. Each category includes different brands and models, so you have a wide variety to choose from.
A good feature is that these simulators are really affordable. For only 20 US dollars, you can simulate the sound given by, say, a Fender amp costing several hundred dollars, or by paying 10 bucks, you can emulate the sound of a Boss pedal for a fraction of its tag price.
There are also different sets of gear simulators that emulate the hardware used by famous musicians, such as Guns n'Roses' Slash, Jimi Hendrix, or Dimebag Darrell.
A great advantage is that you can try some of these effects before buying. Once you click on the Try button, the effect is available for 72 hours, so you can check if it is what you expect or need.
In sum, if you are a musician and want to have a big effects variety at an affordable cost, this program is for you.
Please note that you need to register and create an account to download the program.
- The program is free to download and use, and has some basic effects for free
- It allows you to try some effects before buying
- The transitions between sections of the program aren't so smooth; is like opening a new web browser page with a slow Internet connection
